There is no question about it. Mold spores are carried in the air.

Generally, when you wash your clothes, you need to dry them thoroughly. Any clothes put away damp are going to mold. Clothes should be stored thoroughly dry. Washing and drying moldy clothes could completely solve the problem unless the clothes were moldy for a long period of time, which will degrade the material.

Unfortunately, we are not in the Phoenix area. You need to look locally for a Phoenix company for air-quality testing and remediation.
