Formaldehyde Lawsuit
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the EPA and a half-dozen federal agencies are investigating formaldehyde in Lumber Liquidators laminate flooring.
The flooring under investigation is Chinese-made, and does not conform to U.S. Safety guidelines. The flooring was found to emit high levels of formaldehyde. There is a lawsuit in progress demanding that the plaintiffs get a full refund of the product’s purchase price and reimbursement for any costs incurred in the original installation, delivery, removal and return of the harmful flooring.
Formaldehyde-Emitting Glue
The issue in this case stems from the glue used to hold the laminate layers together.
60 Minutes on Lumber Liquidators
An episode of “60 Minutes” discussed lab results from Lumber Liquidator flooring samples, all of which emitted formaldehyde at levels illegal in California. Undercover reporters who visited the Chinese factories found admission of mislabeling intended to make the product appear compliant with California emission standards.
