Could my nine-month-old baby keep getting sick from mold?
Dear George,
Could my nine-month-old baby keep getting sick from mold being someplace in my home? She’s having problems breathing – wheezing all the time. Someone told us it could be from mold growing somewhere in our home and we just don’t know!
Signed,
Mama

Dear Mama,
Yes, your child could certainly be getting sick from being exposed to mold. Exposure to mold spores can cause allergic reactions. There is strong evidence suggesting that there is a correlation between mold exposure and asthma in children.
There are steps to take:
1. Ask your pediatrician or pediatric immunologist about their recommendations regarding allergy testing of your baby. In some cases, the doctor may want to test for allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE).
2 Ask Bye Bye Mold™ about a mold inspection for your home. It will let you know if mold-spore counts are significantly higher indoors when compared to outdoors. Test results include mold genera discovered, which may be helpful to your pediatrician.
