Hospital Surgical Theatre Closed in the Bahamas Due to Mold Infestation

Opposition Leader Dr. Hubert Minnis said last week that a surgical theatre of the labour ward of Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), located in Centreville, Nassau, Bahamas, has been shut down due to mold infestation.

He said that the theatre was closed after the nurses and other staff complained about having respiratory problems due to mold infestation.

Dr. Minnis emphasized that the government should take steps to open the newly constructed Critical Care Block. “The new (Critical Care Block) has the facility for new theatres… All the government has to do is move the patients to the new block and utilise the facilities that we have built. Instead they choose to leave them there in a mold-infested area knowing that the personnel are plagued with respiratory problems.”
