|Heavy snowfall pulled down heat tape off the roof. Ice prevented melt runoff and resultantly, water backed up into the building.
Superintendent Lou Gates said the molded sheet rock will be replaced with mold-resistant material. This is not the first time this has happened. Similar problems occurred several years ago. The roof has a cold roof design, which is intended to remain cold enough that ice dams ought not form. The ice dams only form in key locations where the roof warms up so the school is looking for a permanent fix.
The affected room’s air quality will be verified safe before students are allowed to move back in.|
