The Kane County morgue, which was closed last summer due to mold infestation and other issues, has recently been reopened.
The morgue was closed around 8 months ago, when several problems were detected including mold and freezer malfunctions. According to Coroner Rob Russell, the mold detected in the facility was non-toxic but it was necessary to clean it up.
An open house was organized on February 10 to mark the reopening of the morgue.
During the maintenance period, the morgue operations were shifted to DuPage County.
