Firefighters Exposed to Mold

Mar 20, 2015

Firefighters who tested positive for toxic mold exposure have led to a planned re-inspection of Indian River County Fire stations. Toxic Mold inspection for the buildings is in the planning stage, though a visual inspection was conducted on some stations.

The Indian River Firefighter’s Union says they are not asking for a double-digit raise. They only want livable working conditions and roofs that don’t leak.

County commissioners question whether the firefighters’ testing results was due to mold in the fire stations. Firefighters plan to ask for more extensive testing and a mold remediation plan.
