600,000 books damaged by Mold

A grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation will be applied to fix the damage to 600,000 books damaged by mold while books were in storage underground in Columbia, although 100,000 of those books will be lost.

James Cogswell, Director of Libraries at the University of Missouri said there will be a partnership with Washington University and Missouri State University for replacement copies of missing documents.

The grant is for $400,000, and will be combined with insurance money to handle repair and replacement.
